“ Yes… Time Kills Deals! I’ve heard it – I know it, already.”
You’ve heard it before – and so have I, though this week I also saw the opposite win through:
Speed Beats the Competition!
First, an offer that’s taken weeks for a firm to turn around (there were lots of reasons, but the fact remains it took too long) was rebuffed.
The same day, another client made an offer lightning fast; it was accepted – immediately!
Unusually – the tardy offer was from a small (so one might expect more agile) wealth boutique; whereas the whirlwind was from a “BigCoPlc” behemoth of a business (more often thought to be too prudent, process-portly and painfully slow to offer.)
Hats off to all involved at “BigCoPlc”, as we’re still talking multiple interviews with busy people here.
But, they made the time – and, together, they impressed, enthused and secured a great new and valuable addition to their exec. Fantastic work!
I’m not saying rushing is a good thing – “less haste, more speed” and all that – but maintaining momentum in the recruitment process (particularly at executive level) is crucial to securing what all parties ultimately want; a well-communicated, well-aligned, strong and binding agreement – reached swiftly.
The War for Talent has never been so competitive as it is now, so we all need to be quick, or the deal’s dead… we’re back to square one, and that costs everyone – money, time, more time and more money…
So – when you meet someone
you really want/need to join you
– to help you achieve even more
